So here it is! We hope this conference will enable leaders to learn from each other\, explore the challenges\, whilst also creating ‘head-space’ to consider new opportunities and indeed real ‘hope’  – in helping to tackling health inequalities\, in the local neighbourhoods and places we all work so hard to create improved opportunity and healthy life expectancy for all. \nThe event intends to build on our well received format\, ensuring there is time to review the fast moving Global and UK landscape together: time for specific updates including data & evaluation\, leadership capability and capacity; LGR/Devolution and an important update from Sport England’s.  We will also have a range of network breakouts and plentiful chances to exchange ideas\, debate and discuss. \nThe event will be based in the Creative Hub WX\, underneath a beautiful creative installation by Luke Jerram: Helios sculpture. We hope across the day and a half event\, we can together showcase the use of creativity and imagination – in tackling the complex problems\, we are all faced with. A chance to really think creatively together about the commonality we have\, and the connection between global climate and health inequalities with our own local systems: helping us as leaders to cultivate a more equitable and fairer future. \nThis event and network remains as a neutral network with no boundaries. We simply ask everyone who attends supports a safe and collaborative space and observes our values. \n\nWith thanks to our conference sponsors and partners\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Find out more about our sponsors here\n#ActiveWellbeing #AWLC2026

SUMMARY:Active Wellbeing Leadership Network #11
DESCRIPTION:The state is being rewired\, and while that is exciting and needed\, a key word here is ‘how’… \nSince we gathered under the sun at WX Wakefield Exchange\, “rewiring the state” has moved from idea to agenda – devolution\, a new PM in Andy Burnham\, No.10 in the North and real talk of power shifting to local communities. On paper\, this is the moment our network exists for. \nBut we’ve been here before. Plans get rebadged. Funding gets announced and doesn’t always reach the people doing the work\, or the people needing the support. Power “devolves” and somehow still answers upward. \nSo this session isn’t about taking the aspirations at face value\, it’s about bringing together the widest possible range of views and aspirations from across the network\, and weaving them into something we can offer with honesty and hope. \nWednesday 7 October\, 9.45am–4.30pm\, Riverside Studios\, London \nThis is a space to bring your thoughts\, ideas\, hopes\, your fears\, and your frustrations.  It’s about uncertainty and complexity\, about whether funding will genuinely reach the heart of communities\, about duplication\, relevance\, and what it will really take to make this work in practice\, not just on paper. \nWe’ll open by creating space for genuine listening and reflection\, and surfacing ideas grounded in the realism of how things actually work on the ground\, not just how they’re described from the centre. We’ll then run the day in deep-democracy style: surfacing not just where we agree\, but where we genuinely differ\, and why.  We trust there’s real wisdom in the “no”\, and that understanding our disagreements is as valuable as finding consensus. This is where change and innovation live… \nSport England colleagues will be attending with Simon Hayes (Chief Executive\, Sport England) joining us for part of the day to be part of the network conversation\, debate and dialogue. \nPlease book by the 25th September by completing the registration form below. \nAhead of the day: Karen Creavin is hosting a short online preparation session for anyone who wants to help shape the day with a theme\, tension or question they think needs airing. Date and more details to follow. \nCan’t make it live? A short survey will also let you feed in. \nA fuller agenda follows ten days out. \nSee you there. \nRegister your attendance here: \n\n\n \n\n\n\n Full Name\n \n \n Email\n \n \n Organisation\n \n \n Job Title\n \n \n Any dietary or accessibility requirements
