Active Wellbeing Leadership Conference 2026

This inaugural conference seeks to convene our largest network of leaders to date, encouraging representation from across the active wellbeing system; we have all learnt over recent years the importance of embracing a much wider system if we are to create a real ‘movement for movement’ in local places and neighbourhoods.
The network is now nearly 2 years old, and every-time we convene a session, we welcome new members, and increased reflections from leaders for ‘please can we have more time together’. So here it is! We hope this conference will enable leaders to learn from each other, explore the challenges, whilst also creating ‘head-space’ to consider new opportunities and indeed real ‘hope’  – in helping to tackling health inequalities, in the local neighbourhoods and places we all work so hard to create improved opportunity and healthy life expectancy for all.
The event intends to build on our well received format, ensuring there is time to review the fast moving Global and UK landscape together: time for specific updates including data & evaluation, leadership capability and capacity; LGR/Devolution and an important update from Sport England’s.  We will also have a range of network breakouts and plentiful chances to exchange ideas, debate and discuss.
The event will be based in the Creative Hub WX, underneath a beautiful creative installation by Luke Jerram: Helios sculpture. We hope across the day and a half event, we can together showcase the use of creativity and imagination – in tackling the complex problems, we are all faced with. A chance to really think creatively together about the commonality we have, and the connection between global climate and health inequalities with our own local systems: helping us as leaders to cultivate a more equitable and fairer future.
This event and network remains as a neutral network with no boundaries. We simply ask everyone who attends supports a safe and collaborative space and observes our values. Whether you have attended before or not, we welcome all system leaders. Â The event is free to attend, but places are limited so register today.
Case Studies
We are seeking a range of best practice and exemplar work to be shared at the conference, showing how active wellbeing is being delivered in practice through leadership, partnership and innovation.
There are three ways you might like to lead a session on ‘sharing’ as below:
- Best and next practice – This is work around place-based change that is so good that we need to be doing more of it at greater pace and scale.
- Church of Fail(!) – These are examples, where you have tried, but they didn’t entirely work out as planned! But you learnt so much from it, that you absolutely must share it to benefit others!
- Curiosity Corners – This is a topic, area of practice, or view of the future that you want to explore and want to know if anyone else either already knows about it, or want(s) to explore it with you.
